It’s scary out there, but we don’t have to do it alone. Take a journey through the center of one woman’s universe in this “toxically independent” feature film by Wet Hot American Summer’s Madeline Blue, and experience surround sound by the SFX Designer who brought you Apocalypto.
Synopsis: Roxanne hijacks her ex-boyfriend's acid and hauls out into the wild—alone—to prove she only needs to count on herself. But strangers, Mother Nature, and her own mind have other plans for her, including some phantoms she'll need to embrace.
Solo Trip is Reese Witherspoon’s Wild—on acid. It’s a psychedelic adventure film about spiritual self-discovery in a time where love and self-love have been pitted against each other. We find ourselves in a seriously disjointed cultural space, in which we crave inner healing while also craving real connection. The film scopes out our loneliness epidemic through the female lens with playful self-awareness and psychological grit.
With elements of cinéma vérité storytelling, Solo Trip explores a darkly funny, deeply intimate moment unfolding in altered time. It gets French existential about teenage trauma (female audiences) but is sexy/funny/edgy enough for sophisticated male audiences (who’ve done their share of “inner work.”) Expect trippy sights and sounds, foolhardy decisions, and a tongue-in-cheek reflection on hyper-independence.
